Adults braces or Invisalign?
We wrote about this subject in the last post of dental health blog. Since then many people have called our offices to learn more about Invisalign. One question was more common than any other: does Invisalign work?
The answer is a resounding yes! At Tulip Tree Dental Care in South Bend, IN, we’ve used Invisalign to treat many different orthodontic issues. Invisalign can straighten crooked teeth. Invisalign can realign misaligned teeth. Invisalign can close embarrassing gaps between your teeth. Invisalign can even treat certain issues with your bite.
In fact, Invisalign doesn’t just work well. It works while offering greater comfort and convenience than traditional adult braces. In our last post, we gave you three reasons why many busy adults choose Invisalign for their orthodontic treatment.
To recap, adults choose Invisalign because Invisalign aligners are clear. That means no brace face or metal mouth! Plus Invisalign doesn’t use brackets or wires to realign your teeth. Instead Invisalign uses clear aligners to gently reposition your teeth. Best of all, Invisalign works twice as fast as traditional adult braces!
But those aren’t the only reason busy adults choose Invisalign. So in today’s post of our dental health blog, we want to give you three more reasons why busy adults choose Invisalign. Let’s get started!
Reason #4: Invisalign Won’t Stain Your Teeth
Traditional braces use metal brackets that are affixed to the front of your teeth. That means two things for your orthodontic treatment. First, it’s going to be difficult to brush your teeth. You’ll have to navigate around the brackets and wires to try and reach all the nooks and crannies of your mouth in order to prevent tooth decay. This can be time-consuming and frustrating.
Second, it’s impossible to clean the enamel of your teeth that’s behind those metal brackets. That means you may notice nasty yellow stains of plaque on your enamel after you get your braces removed. This troublesome stains may even require professional teeth whitening to remove. So you’re stuck with yellow teeth when all you want to do is show-off your new smile!
Invisalign is different. Because your Invisalign aligners are removable, you can actually brush and floss your teeth like normal after you take the aligner out. That means a lowered risk of tooth decay. It also means no nasty stains left on your teeth. When your orthodontic treatment is finished, you can proudly display your smile for all to see.
Reason #5: Invisalign Won’t Ruin Your Photos
Traditional adult braces require two years of orthodontic treatment. That also means two years of ruined photos. Think about it, do you really want to remember your daughter’s wedding by looking at pictures of yourself with metal mouth?
Think of all those photographic moments that are coming up. Graduation parties, weddings, family reunions, and vacations. If you’re stuck in traditional metal braces, you’ll either have to grin and bear the shame of being photographed in that manner or you’ll have to avoid showing off your teeth.
Invisalign won’t ruin your photos. Your aligners are removable, so no one has to know that you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment while you’re at these functions. While you should wear your aligners the vast majority of the time, it’s okay to take them out for special occasions!
Reason #6: Invisalign Won’t Wreck Your Diet
Imagine trying to eat while in traditional adult braces. Certain foods have to be avoided because they could damage the braces. A bite of steak could knock a bracket off your tooth. Cheese could become trapped in the wires of your adult braces. The whole endeavor can become quite a chore.
Luckily, Invisalign is different. As we’ve mentioned before, Invisalign aligners are removable. So you simply take them out when it’s time to eat. That means you can enjoy all of your favorite foods. It also means you don’t have to be restricted by difficult dietary restrictions when socializing or dining out with friends.
